Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 5

11/1/2018
Day 5: Looking into the Future

Activity 1: Your Future Self
It may be hard to imagine, but one day you will graduate from high school and it
will be time to decide what to do next. You may want to study at university, become an
apprentice, go to training college, travel, or start working. There are so many options!

Take a minute to think about your future. What would you like to do when you finish school?
Would you like to work in a specific job? Would you like to study at university?
What would you study? Maybe you’d even like to move overseas. Share your thoughts
and ideas on your blog site. There are no wrong answers!

My Future
In the future I want to go to university to study law or pacific studies
when I am older I would also want to travel the world. It would also allow me to explore the
opportunities  form the world that could possible branch into a courier for my future.
If I were to move overseas I would love to move to Australia where some of my closest
friends and family live so I could spend more time with them.  I would also like to have a
part time job to support myself and have extra money to treat myself once in a while from
all the hard studying I would be doing trying to become a lawyer. If I don’t want to become
a lawyer when I am older I would like to own my own bakery so I could use my passion
for baking to make people happy, and it would also be really fun to come up with different
flavors/ kinds of pastries or desserts that know one has ever heard of in there lifetime.

Activity 2: Flying Cars
Let’s imagine that you’ve just learned to drive, and your family has
decided to buy you a brand new car. You are allowed to choose from any of the following
designs:

flying car (2).jpg
Red-Cadillac-750x443.jpg

On your blog please tell us which of the three cars you would choose and why.
I would love to drive the flying car because it would so exciting and a blast flying
through the streets like the bat mobile. Also it is much quicker to get to places especially
if your running late or in a rush, it looks super cool and is different from all the other cars.
I didn’t choose the black car because it looks like any other car on the street and it’s not
really interesting, I didn’t choose the red car because I don’t like how low it is and it wouldn’t
be strong enough to take on road trips along bumpy roads. So the flying car is the best
choice for me.

Bonus Activity: Blade Runner 2049
blade runner.jpg
There is a new movie out in cinemas at the moment called Blade Runner 2049.

It is a movie about what the world will be like in the future. Imagine that you able
to travel through time and that you can see what the world will look like in 2099.

On your blog write a description of what New Zealand will be like at that time (80 –
90 years from now). What kind of houses will people live in? What will they eat?
Where will they work?

The future
I think people will be living in their  dream houses and would be able to design
the layout and machines would build it.
The houses would be built in 4 days maximum and will be fully furnished with everything the person has drawn on the lay out. The person would also be able to change the furniture lay out by pushing a button on a certain piece and it would move to wherever you would like it to go, and to get from room to room all the person has to do is clap their hands a certain number of times and they would be in the room they would like to be in like the lounge. When ever the person wants a certain food all they have to do is go to the kitchen look on the iPad, and click on what they would like to eat then it would pop up on the table ready to be eaten. I think that everyone would be eating weird and crazy foods like rainbow chicken, chili flavored chocolate, fish dumplings I also think that technology would be a even bigger influence on food from the future.

  1. Hey katelyn,
Activity 2 - I agree with you, flying cars would be cool as to go for a cruz in and you can just blast around to different countries.

    Good Work

  2. Hey there Katelyn, I've really enjoyed reading your plans for the future and hearing about your dream career. I am impressed with how much thought you have given it. I am sure you will be successful, you have such a strong work ethic.

What sort of part time job would you like to work? Owning a bakery would be fun, hard work though, I think they start work at about 4 o clock in the morning!

It's great that for the second activity you have justified your selection with several reasons and also stated a few reasons why you didn't choose the other cars. It would be awesome having a flying car, being able to skip traffic, leave the house later, travel the world. If I were you, I would fly to school and park on the roof of my classroom. You would be so cool!

    Thank you, Billy

    1. Hey Katelyn, that's awesome, glad to hear. It would be nice to be able to give the leftover food to homeless people each day. I would find it difficult not to eat all the food in the bakery when I am working, especially some of that sweet stuff.

      Thanks, Billy

    1. Hey Vedel,

I found activity 2 the most difficult because it was hard picking between all of the cool cars, I would have loved to have had the option to choose all of them.

Thanks for your comment and support I will be sure to check out your blog soon!

  5. Konichiwa Katelyn,

I love how you wrote a broad statement about your beliefs then followed up with a detailed and informative paragraph. It sounds like people would be a lot more dependent on technology in comparison to nowadays, but I believe it, seeing how fast technology continues to evolve.

In response to what you wrote, have you thought about what jobs might not exist in 80-90 years? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section!

When I was younger I thought we’d be getting around in flying cars by 2020, I’m a little embarrassed about my prediction, but hey we’ll see in 2020!

I just wanted to say a big congratulations to you Katelyn for completing the Summer Learning Journey of 2017-2018! You’ve worked really hard to provide lots of work completed to a high standard, well done!

I hope you enjoy the rest of your holidays, all the best for the new year!

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,

    1. Hey Cia,

I don't think cashier jobs will still be available in the future because technology has already started taking over with self scanning machines. Also I think that Librarian jobs will not exist because you can use a computer to look up where books are or maybe in the future library's won't exist at all.

Thank you so so much for making the effort of commenting and reading my blog posts!
